Het Begin

Voordat BELIRA werd opgericht, heeft onze vorige secretaris al ervaring opgedaan met het verschepen van hulpgoederen naar Ghana, getuige dit artikel uit een Ghanese krant.

The Wenchi-Techiman Citizens Union in The Netherlands has presented a number of hospital items valued at 23,400 Guilders to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital and Holy Family Hospital at Techiman, reports Ben Owusu-Sekyere. They include 78 beds, 40 mattress, 70 bed casts, 38 public places of conveneance, chairs, 32 cushions 26 white buckets and 10 walking aids to be shared between the two hospitals.
In a letter accompanying the items and signed by the secretary of the union, Mr. Eddy Adusei (to the right of Mr.Gyarko), the union pledged further support for the two hospitals to boost their delivery system. The union urged the two hospitals to send the lists of materials and equipment needed to guide them in their next shipment. Mr. F.Y.Gyarko, Techiman District Chief Executive, who received the consignement on behalf of the two institutions thanked the citizens for their donation wich he said has come to the time that the hospitals were facing shortage of beds and other essential materials. He appealed to the hospitals to take good care of the materials to enable them last long enough to justify the good intentions of the donors.

Wij bouwen nog steeds voort op zijn kennis omtrent het verschepen van goederen en het transport over land naar en van de havens. Meer nog maken wij gebruik van zijn uitgebreide netwerk in Ghana.
